I bought this for our 2 month old puppy, Panda, because we were worried about her reaction to the fireworks on the 4th of July. She's skittish as it is, so we wanted to help her feel safe. The directions on the package said to try it out and get her used to it before we really needed it, so we did. It worked like magic. She immediately stopped biting and her entire body relaxed. She seemed very comfortable and content while wearing it. We left it on for a short time that first day. Since then, we've used it whenever she gets too hyper and bitey, and it works like a charm. She often gets hyper and grumpy before nap time, like an infant or toddler would, and this actually helps her settle down and get to sleep faster and more easily. It's almost miraculous how quickly her demeanor changes when we wrap her up. I feel comfortable saying that the upcoming fireworks will not be a problem for our Panda. She's a tiny puppy, a shih tzu - poodle mix, so a size XS fits her well, but if/when she outgrows it, we will be buying the next size up for sure.Smart purchaseWorth the money
I know every dog is different, but this product really did work! I hated coming home to my dog under a table and shaking during a thunderstorm, it broke my heart. I gave this a shot and it seriously works. A thunderstorm rolled in just as my workday ended and I rushed to put the jacket on her. She was shaking badly and panting heavily. Within 15 mins her panting stopped. Within 30 mins her shaking stopped. Within an hour she was asleep. To me, this was money well spent! I hope this product works for your dog as well.
We have a three-year-old Maltese that every time it thundered would shiver shake and tremble the entire storm I saw this on and thought I'll give it a try, the best purchase I've ever made she has completely calmed down. Every time I see dark clouds I put it on her she just lays there and thundering lightning doesn't even phase her she might look up a moment and turn her head but other than that no more shaking or trembling. We got the pale pink one, I ordered her a medium but should have gotten a smaller one. She is 14 lbs but I just took a big 2 inch seam in the strap. She loves this coat and does not want us to take it off her.
I have a papillion that is very afraid of thunder, fireworks, etc. He normally shakes/vibrates while trying to climb on you and squeeze himself behind you somewhere. He's gotten stuck between the mattress and the box springs because he was so afraid before. We've had three thunderstorms since getting this. The first storm- no shaking, he was on my lap the majority of the time but he's also a lap dog that's what he was bred for- labs fetch, papillions climb on laps so I can't say if it was more than normal but he even went outside to pee while it was thundering and only came back in once it started to hail. Unbelievable! The second storm he did scratch at a closed door to get to me, but he just didn't want to be alone. By the third thunderstorm he was snoring right through the thing, off my lap. As for construction, it's kind of a swaddling thing and seems to be sturdy enough for what it is. My dog is a larger papillion at 12 pounds and the xsmall fit him fine. There's velcro that allows the size to be adjusted so I think the size range for each size could be rather large. As long as their swaddled snuggly, it seems to work miracles
I have to say—I’m pretty impressed. I love in south Florida so we get some pretty big storms. My dog gets anxious during storms and will be visibly shaking. I decided to try this based on other reviews and I’m really happy with how it has helped my dog. He doesn’t shake anymore while he’s wearing this and seems to be a lot calmer. I bought this instead of a thunder jacket because it’s a little cheaper, but now I’m really glad I did because it has really helped my pup get through thunderstorms. Definitely measure the chest before buying as opposed to basing the size off weight as a few other people have suggested. I have a 40 pound terrier/ dachshund mix and originally bought a medium. Traded it in for a large and it’s much a much better fit for him.
